A Career Beyond Measure

A Mechanical Drafting Associate Certificate prepares you for hands-on roles creating technical drawings and 3D models used in manufacturing and engineering.

You鈥檒l work with engineers and designers to turn concepts into detailed plans that guide how products and parts are built.

Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions supporting product development, fabrication and production processes across industries such as manufacturing, engineering and industrial design.

The Autodesk Inventor Specialist at Moraine Valley is designed to be completed in about one year.

The Mechanical Drafting Associate Certificate at Moraine Valley typically can be completed in about one year when attending full time.

This program prepares students for entry-level roles in mechanical drafting and computer-aided design (CAD). Students develop skills in technical drawing, 3D modeling and interpreting design specifications while gaining hands-on experience with industry-standard software and tools.

Employment Outlook

About 1,100 openings for electro-mechanical and mechatronics technologists and technicians are projected each year, on average, over the decade.

Electro-mechanical technicians are generalists in technology, and their broad skill set will help sustain their employment, especially as their skills working with machines wired to computer control systems grow in importance in the manufacturing sector. These technicians may play a role in assisting with the automation of various production processes. For example, technicians may be needed to operate and maintain mechanical sensors that are increasingly used in the automation of manufacturing plants and warehouses.
