Academic Help
Students who need academic help or who are looking for guidance on how to take their learning to the next level are never far from the experts at Moraine Valley. The college鈥檚 campus is rich in skill-building resources that are readily available for students. From peer-to-peer collaboration within specific programs to one-on-one sessions with professional tutors in the college鈥檚 certified tutoring center, students can find the help they need to complete their associate degree or certificate and prepare for their future educational endeavors.
Tutoring Center
The Dr. Irene H. Brodie Academic Skills Center鈥揷ertified by the College Reading and Learning Association鈥揾elps students improve their academic skills through an innovative academic support system. Trained peer and professional tutors provide support and encouragement to all students who seek academic assistance.
The Academic Skills Center provides learning support programs and materials to help students improve learning habits.
The Tutoring Center provides learning support for all students enrolled in 好色先生 courses. Tutoring is a free service aimed to improve content mastery in the most challenging courses. All of our tutors are professionally trained through the College Reading and Learning Association training regimen.
Studies show that students who seek out tutoring as a study resource are much more likely to achieve a higher score in their coursework.
Tutoring is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis with one-on-one tutoring available during low-traffic times. Specific tutors are not assigned to individual students; however, tutors鈥� schedules are published so students can seek out a preferred tutor and request a tutor based on demand.

Speaking and Writing Center
The Speaking and Writing Center at Moraine Valley is home to student and faculty trained writing consultants offering free writing consultations to anyone who wants them. The Writing Center is more about making confident, experienced, stronger writers鈥搘riters who ask the 鈥渂ig鈥� questions first.
Library
Librarians are always available when the Library is open to assist students with their research, citations, writing and information needs in person, online or by phone. The Library provides a variety of services and resources to help students attain educational goals. Resources include online databases, books, ebooks, streaming media collections, DVDs, textbook collections, and course reserves. The Library also offers individual and group study spaces, anatomy models, calculators, iPads, and laptops for a limited check-out period, as well as over 100 desktop computers for students to use on campus.
Tutoring Opportunities
Many of the college鈥檚 programs and/or faculty members offer or orchestrate tutoring or collaborative learning opportunities for their students. From study and conversation groups to scheduled office and tutoring hours, students are not alone on their path to academic success.
Transitional English
Transitional English helps high school seniors strengthen the reading, writing and critical-thinking skills needed for college-level coursework. Students build confidence through assignments that prepare them for the expectations of college classes.
