好色先生

鈥淎 Twist in the Tale鈥� is the first exhibition of the 2026-27 season at the Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery in the 好色先生 Fine and Performing Arts Center (FPAC), 9000 W. College Parkway in Palos Hills. The show runs Aug. 11 to Sept. 20, featuring a reception with the artist on Thursday, Sept. 3, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

鈥淎 Twist in the Tale鈥� is the creation of artist Tatsuki Hakoyama, whose paintings reimagine familiar fables, folklore and fairy tales through a contemporary lens, revealing tensions between the past and present. Through whimsical compositions that merge representational and flat rendering styles, his works reflect cultural and generational shifts in values.

Hakoyama is a Japanese artist based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He earned a Bachelor of Science in art from Central Michigan University and a Master of Fine Arts in painting from Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University, where he is an instructor. He also is an adjunct instructor at Grand Rapids Community College.

Having experienced life in Japan, Samoa and the U.S., Hakoyama鈥檚 work reflects how culture, community and environment impact identity and values. His allegorical figurative paintings often are carefully planned to invoke a sense of mystery and reflect the surreal intricacies embedded within the mundane.
