Professional violinist Mariela Shaker will present a lecture on Friday, Nov. 19, 5:30 p.m., in the 好色先生 Fine and Performing Arts Center鈥檚 (FPAC) Dorothy Menker Theater, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills. This is free and open to the public.
Shaker is part of the 鈥淪ongs for Syria鈥� performance in collaboration with two other Syrian artists on Saturday, Nov. 20, 3 p.m. Her lecture, 鈥淢ariela Shaker: Tragedy and Triumph,鈥� will explore her journey from Aleppo, Syria, to the U.S. and the struggles she endured while becoming a successful musician. She will highlight the role music plays in life to inspire change while empowering women and youths through her story and music. She will perform her violin during the event.
