Explore a robust selection of film and music noncredit courses virtually this fall at 好色先生. Film buffs and novices alike can learn the details of film through classes such as:

• A Brief History of Film 鈥� understand the origins of cinema, coming of sound, studio system, onscreen censorship and some mechanics of film.
• Cinematography 鈥� covers various aspects of cinematography, including film stock, perspective relationships, framing and on/off-screen space.
• The Irony of Festivus 鈥� that silly holiday introduced by 鈥淪einfeld鈥� and celebrated annually on Dec. 23, as students consider its origins and place in popular culture, including Chicago.

Music lovers can take a trip down memory lane in four new noncredit music history courses:

• John Lennon: The Solo Years 鈥� explores the 10-year period from the Beatles break-up in 1970 to Lennon鈥檚 murder in 1980 through audio and visual content.
• The Beatles: The History in One Hour 鈥� traces the arc of their career from their development in Liverpool through Beatlemania and into their psychedelic phase and eventual dissolution.
• Motown: Music That Moved the Work 鈥� traces an amazing musical journey from the power soul of 鈥淒ancing in the Streets鈥� and 鈥淚 Heard It Through the Grapevine鈥� to the psychedelic 鈥淐loud Nine鈥� and 鈥淲hat鈥檚 Going On鈥� to the pop soul of The Jackson 5.
• Simon & Garfunkel: Sound and Then Silence 鈥� traces the arc of Simon & Garfunkel鈥檚 career from their surprise teenybopper hit 鈥淗ey Schoolgirl鈥� and folk rock classic 鈥淪ound of Silence鈥� to the popular 鈥淢rs. Robinson鈥� and majestic 鈥淏ridge over Troubled Water.鈥�

All courses will be live online via video webinar and start between mid-September through December.
